Time to Tie-Dye is a dark humour illustration series that aims to destigmatise mental illness and the intrusive thoughts that can come with it—both from the perspective of the person experiencing them and the people around them.

By pairing heavy subject matter with a playful, childlike illustration style and a bright, candy-coloured palette, the series uses contrast to create a comedic effect that feels both disarming and relatable. Dark humour often resonates most with those who’ve lived through similar experiences—and that’s the audience this work connects with. Some of the designs were also printed on t-shirts and sold as part of a small run.
